Madison Cares offers many different resources to the community and one of those is a Parenting Support Group. I was ask to do a redesign of this flyer to freshen it up a little bit. I used InDesign to layout and design this flyer.

Start with Hello Campaign

Posted by on Feb 25, 2016 in Blog, Design, Featured, Portfolio | 2 comments

Start with Hello is a campaign that was  introduced to Madison School District through Sandy Hook Promise. I was able to get involved with this campaign through creating posters, signs and promotional pieces that could be used during the week of this campaign. Our goal at the school district was to get the whole community involved.

I was able to create these pass along cards, stickers, and table toppers for the school cafeterias and also for restaurants to promote this campaign.

It was amazing being involved with Start with Hello because it was a campaign that you could see was making a difference not only in the schools, but in the community as well.

This is a banner I made that was put up at the end of main street.

As part of this campaign I was able to help put together a video to promote the idea of starting with hello. Social isolation is real and many students in schools feel alone and like no one notices them or cares and saying hello could make a world of difference for someone. I loved being able to go into the schools and simply film students saying hello because they were so sincere.

Veterans Day at Madison School District

It is important that we take time to reflect and thank those who have served our country and who continue to serve. I was able to help put together a district wide opportunity where the teachers and students could write letters, draw pictures, and write poems to send to a troop serving over seas.

I created this poster to help inform the administrators and teachers on what we wanted to accomplish. To introduce the campaign I also help record clips that were used in putting this video together.

Graduation Announcement Design

Annoucement1-4

One of my coworkers asked me if I could take her senior pictures and create a graduation announcement for her. She wasn’t exactly sure what she wanted for her announcement other then that she only wanted it to be one sided. This was a fun design I worked on because I was able to use pictures that I took as well as experiment by making several different designs that she could choose from. All of the designs are similar, but different in little ways. She decided she liked the first one the best and that is the one she got printed and handed out. I used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create these graduation announcements.

Heise Pizza Parlor Redesign

Posted by on Feb 22, 2016 in Blog, Design, Featured, Portfolio | 0 comments

As a communication major at BYU-Idaho I had the opportunity to do a senior project on anything  that related to my major. I decided I wanted to do a company rebranding that could be used at Heise Pizza Parlor. A company rebrand includes a new logo, stationary, business card, and in this case a new menu design and pizza box. In order to make the pizza parlor fit in with the rest of the company I knew their logo should be similar to that of the swimming pool, zip line, and the fishing expedition.

This project interested me because I have worked with Heise Pizza Parlor for eight years and it has become a second home. I knew customers liked and disliked about our menu so it was easy for me to change.  After completing this project it was fun to see that it didn’t just end there, Heise Pizza actually decided to use my menu redesign in the restaurant.

Comm 316 in Review

Comm 316 Professional Imaging is about learning new skills and figuring out what your style is. As I have gone throughout this past semester I have been able to figure out what that style is. My personal style is about seeing things differently then most people would see it by using different lighting, moving to a different angle or getting in real close. Comm 316 has taught me how to make my work stand out and not to be afraid to try new things! Comm 316 also has made my photography skills more versatile because I now know how to take killer portraits, food and product shots, architectural images as well as macro and light painting. I know that these pictures below have already been featured on my website, but these are just a few of my favorites I was able to capture while taking Comm 316.

Eastern Idaho Children’s Photographer

Eastern Idaho is full of pretty places to take portraits of children. During my photo session with the Boone family I was able to capture some killer shots of their six children.

I decided I would do at least one black and white portrait of each of the kids and I’m really glad I did because they black and whites turned out amazing!

Each of these kids have their own fun personality and each of them makes up an important part of their family. During the portraits session of this shoot I used a 50mm lens and then I had my f stop set at 2.8 so that my subject would be the only thing in focus. Surprisingly enough I used natal light to capture every single one of these amazing portraits.

I can’t just post one picture of each of this amazing Boone Kids because there were so many great ones. I would say this is probably a portrait overload, but it’s so worth it I hope you enjoy these amazing kids as much as I did.

Family Photos in Eastern Idaho

Eastern Idaho Photographer

Being a photographer in Eastern Idaho can sometimes be a challenge. There are so many people with a camera who think they want to be a photographer, so building up a cliental can be somewhat difficult. This Eastern Idaho family gave me the privilege to go out with them and take their fall pictures.

Jessie Boone is a fantastic lady and she reached out to me and asked me to take her family pictures. We met together and discussed some things she was looking for when it came to the photo shoot. She wanted to make sure to have nice portraits of each of her six kids. She also wanted a couple of different horizontal family pictures with the fall colors.

I met with Jessie a week prior to having the photo shoot, which was on September 28 at 11:00. We were hesitant if the 5th was going to work because the forecast was rain the whole day, but it was the only day that was going to work for their family. Miraculously the sun came out just in time for us to meet up on October 5 and I was able to capture pictures of this beautiful family. They were the biggest family that I had every photographer and it was a little bit of a challenge getting the attention of all the children at the same time. I followed my plan pretty well and was able to get a good amount of pictures of both the family and the kids.

I gave her a quick preview, edited them and got them back to the Boone family by October 12. I seriously had the best time photographing this Eastern Idaho family. The rain stop for the perfect amount of time for us to get the session done because as soon as I took the last shot it started raining again.

Isn’t the mustard and navy the perfect colors to use for a fall family shoot? This families colors made for some amazing pictures. I was able to use all natural light for this family pictures and I made sure to keep my ISO at 200 since it was pretty bright outside even though it was a little overcast. When taking family pictures it’s also important to keep your f stop at 5.6 or higher so that people at different depths won’t be out of focus.

Interesting Resume Design

Creative Resume Handout

Tasha-Larsen-Interesting-Resume-Design

I’m Tasha Larsen and I love seeing the world through the lens of my camera. Photography and design is my passion. I enjoy taking something that seems ordinary and turning it into something extraordinary. Just like I have done for my resume I took it from something ordinary and turned it into an interesting resume design. I believe it is important to capture as many moments as you can in life so they can be cherished for years to come. I have learned you have to work hard in order to play hard. Hard work really pays off in the end.

When I first started creating my interesting resume design I had to think of something that would be logical yet would draw attention. I originally wanted to do my resume on a four pack carrier for glass bottles, but I realized that would be too big to give out to potential employers or clients.

Tasha-Larsen-Interesting-Resume-Design

I decided an envelope with an pull out interest would look classy and also logical. I used Illustrator to construct the interesting resume design. The insert is double sided so I wouldn’t have to have multiple inserts.

I hope you’ll give me the chance to show you some of my work or to catch a glimpse of what your world looks like through the lens of my camera.

Tasha-Larsen-Interesting-Resume-Design

I got a lot of my inspiration for my interesting resume design from Nancy Youngs.

Outdoor Architectural Photography

Architectural Photography

Taking pictures of buildings seems like it would be a boring job, but a lot of money can be found in it if you have the eye and skill for it.

When doing architectural photography there are several key things to remember. First you want to shoot during golden hour sunrise or sunset or in the dark. Then bracket your images so that you can get detail in the picture. It also really important to use a tripod so that when you bracket your picture will be in the same place for each shot.

For both of these pictures I decide I wanted to go out at night and get the buildings lite up. I set up a tripod, set a 2 second timer and put my f stop at 5.6 and had my shutter set to be open for a longer amount of time.

A photographer I really look up to when it comes to outdoor architectural photography is Megan Kelly. She does amazing work both with client and commercial shoots. Check out her website to see more architectural photography.
