St. Anthony Sand Bar

With highs getting into the 90s this next week it’s time to hit those popular swimming holes to cool off. One swimming area located on the Snake River is in St. Anthony. This swimming area is known as the Sand Bar. It’s been a popular swimming spot for locals for over 60 years. One nice thing about the Sand Bar is that is absolutely free to use.

Some different amenities that the sandbar offers is shelters, picnic tables, a water slide, a playground, sand boxes, a roped area for swimming and a diving board. The only downside to the Sandbar is that it’s swim at your own risk. There isn’t ever a life guard on watch. The city of St. Anthony encourages people to always have a swim buddy if they are in the water and not to swim alone.

Be very cautious when swimming at the Sand Bar. Always be aware of your surroundings and if the river is running high or fast probably stay closer to shore. People have drowned here in the past so it’s important to be aware of whats going on with the river and around you while swimming.
