If your stuck in Rexburg for the 4th of July and are looking for different things to do one of the best 4th of July celebrations in the area is in Idaho Falls. Every year Melaleuca puts on a beautiful 4th of July Celebration on the Green Belt by the Snake River.
This event is completely free you just have to find a place to sit to watch the fireworks. The awesome thing about their firework show is they sync music from a radio station to the fireworks so while you watch you also get the patriotic music that goes a long with freedom and celebrating the 4th of July. Fireworks begin at approximately 10:00 PM. BRING YOUR RADIO TUNED TO KLCE 97.3FM! The fireworks are FREE!
Besides the fireworks on the night of the 4th they also have different activities and booths set up around the river. This is a great opportunity to get out and support the locally owned booths. Idaho Falls also has a really great 4th of July parade that is fun to sit and watch. Really you could spend the whole day in Idaho Falls to a vary of different activities. You don’t want to miss out on this amazing firework show that is completely free to the public!

This is great for people in Rexburg because Menan is even closer to Rexburg so there isn’t as much of a commute. They have a pretty awesome parade, then booths and games in the park all day and at dusk of course the fireworks.
With highs getting into the 90s this next week it’s time to hit those popular swimming holes to cool off. One swimming area located on the Snake River is in St. Anthony. This swimming area is known as the Sand Bar. It’s been a popular swimming spot for locals for over 60 years. One nice thing about the Sand Bar is that is absolutely free to use.
Some different amenities that the sandbar offers is shelters, picnic tables, a water slide, a playground, sand boxes, a roped area for swimming and a diving board. The only downside to the Sandbar is that it’s swim at your own risk. There isn’t ever a life guard on watch. The city of St. Anthony encourages people to always have a swim buddy if they are in the water and not to swim alone.
Be very cautious when swimming at the Sand Bar. Always be aware of your surroundings and if the river is running high or fast probably stay closer to shore. People have drowned here in the past so it’s important to be aware of whats going on with the river and around you while swimming.
